We are looking for a Country Manager for Croatia!
Role Overview:
The Country Manager (CM) plays a critical leadership role in overseeing all operational, strategic, and commercial activities within their designated country after the initial expansion phase concludes. Reporting directly to headquarters, the CM ensures that global strategies are effectively implemented locally while adapting to market-specific dynamics. This role requires a versatile generalist capable of leading operations, sales, marketing, and partner success teams. The CM serves as the key decision-maker for day-to-day activities, driving growth, ensuring compliance, and fostering a strong local team culture aligned with Munch’s overarching mission and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Execution & Alignment:
- Implement and execute strategies developed by headquarters while adhering to strategic boundaries.
- Monitor market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and risks.
- Make local strategic decisions, such as city launch timelines, while escalating significant strategic changes (e.g., repositioning or tooling changes) for HQ approval.
Operational Oversight:
- Oversee local operations, including partner success, marketing, and sales teams.
- Ensure teams are aligned, well-coordinated, and adhere to HQ-defined processes, with flexibility for minor process adaptations to fit local cultural nuances.
- Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement in workflows and efficiency.
Financial Accountability (P&L Responsibility):
- Manage local P&L, ensuring alignment with HQ’s financial targets and mutual agreement on budgets and projections.
- Oversee project-level financials, ensuring maximum burn limits and minimum revenue targets are adhered to.
Sales & Marketing Leadership:
- Collaborate with local team leads and marketing operations managers to execute local marketing strategies.
- Ensure alignment with HQ targets for revenue, sales rates, and package numbers.
- Optimize sales pitches, explore new marketing channels, and make data-driven improvements.
Human Resources & Team Management:
- Participate in hiring processes.
- Foster team collaboration, motivation, and performance while promoting Munch’s core values.
Legal & Compliance:
- Ensure full compliance with local employment laws, consumer protection regulations, and operational legalities.
- Work closely with HQ’s P&C team and Founders Associate on compliance-related matters.
Testing & Adaptation:
- Lead local testing initiatives to fine-tune global strategies for market fit.
- Execute small-scale tests autonomously while seeking HQ approval for resource-intensive, long-term initiatives.
Brand Ambassadorship:
- Act as the face of Munch in local industry events, public engagements, and key stakeholder meetings.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with partners, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
Product & Resource Feedback Loop:
- Serve as the key liaison for communicating local product insights and resource allocation needs to HQ.
- Ensure local needs are prioritized and reflected in global resource planning.
Commercial Leadership:
- Lead negotiations and sign-off on key commercial contracts with strategic accounts.
- Actively participate in building and maintaining critical business relationships.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role, ideally in a fast-paced startup or scale-up environment.
- Strong generalist background with experience in operations, sales, marketing, and partner management.
- Exceptional financial acumen with experience in managing P&L responsibilities.
- Excellent strategic thinking and execution capabilities.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of building high-performing teams.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to adapt global strategies to local market needs effectively.
- Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and performance analysis.
- Fluency in Croatian and English.
